Bexhill's well known Optometrist is back at local opticians 26 November 2009
John Thompson is now working for us at our Bexhill branch. John had most recently worked at Vision Express, but had left and was considering his options. He was delighted to be approached by us due to his skills and popularity with Bexhill residents.
John is a familiar face to many, having lived and worked in Bexhill for over 30 years. He is also well known for his trade mark red socks and colourful shirts and ties! He is a qualified Optometrist, but has also managed Optical businesses. He was MD of FA Batemans that later merged with GC Batemans where he was Professional Services Director, responsible for over 80 practices in the South of England. However, he always maintained his work as an Optometrist, working 1 day a week in Bexhill. John also served on national professional committees, including the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians. GC Batemans was acquired by Vision Express in 2008.
John said "I am delighted that I am able to have more time with each person so that I can really tailor an optical solution to suit their lifestyle. The environment at Barraclough and Stiles is very friendly and relaxed which is great for the customer. The business also provides me with all the latest technology and has facilities for retinal imaging and is soon to invest in computerised test charts."
John added "I now have direct access to the Managing Director of the company. This allows for a quicker response to suggestions and ideas for ways to improve service for our customers."
